Diamonds And Pearls Tour

The Diamonds And Pearls Tour took place in Japan, Australia and Europe. It was the first time that he toured in Australia. The original tour opening dates were scheduled in Europe, but were reschudeled to be after the Japanese/Australian leg. The led to many rescheduled and cancelled dates in Europe. Again, like with the Nude Tour, he did not tour the US, because of the money loss made in the Lovesexy tour, fearing this one would cost him money too. Carmen Electra started out as the opening act for the European Tour. As her performance wasn't a success, Prince first blamed her band, replacing them one by one by NPG-members, until only one was left, keyboard player Morris Hayes, who would later become an important member of the NPG. Later Carmen was cancelled completely as opening act. For this tour a whole new and bigger than ever horn section was added, who would also perform on later records. The 50+-concert tour was seen by 850,000 people.
